Ben Scott
Etched
Ben Scott is a former professional cricketer, founder and entrepreneur.
He spent more than 15 years in professional cricket, representing Middlesex, Surrey, Worcester and the England Lions as a wicketkeeper-batsman and playing over 300 professional matches. His career in elite sport shaped much of his approach to business — particularly around performance, resilience, teamwork and the importance of making good decisions under pressure.
Following his playing career, Ben moved into business and entrepreneurship and is now Co-Founder and CEO of Etched, a technology company focused on helping people capture, evidence and protect the ideas and intellectual assets they create.
Etched was founded around a simple problem: ideas often begin long before formal intellectual property protection exists. The platform creates a verifiable record of how an idea develops, from the first spark and early thoughts through collaboration, AI contribution, sharing and commercialisation.
Ben is particularly interested in how the value of ideas is changing in an era where creation, collaboration and AI are moving faster than traditional systems of protection. Through Etched, he works with founders, creators, businesses and leading law firms to explore new ways of evidencing creativity and protecting the value created along the way.
Having moved from professional sport into building a technology company, Ben brings a perspective shaped by both high-performance environments and the realities of turning an idea into a business.
