Hugh Chappell
Serial Entrepreneur, Advisor & Angel Investor
Hugh Chappell is one of the UK’s most accomplished and successful serial entrepreneurs.
He has worked in the technology industry since 1976 and was part of the small team that launched Apple in the UK in 1979, a time when the personal computer industry was in its infancy.
In 1985, he established TAXAN, with offices in the UK, Germany, France, and Sweden, and distribution across Europe. Over 18 years at the helm, the business sold more than five million computer displays and graphics adaptors, with annual turnover exceeding $100 million.
Hugh fulfilled a personal ambition to own and manage his own business in 2003, when he founded TrustedReviews.com. In 2005, he acquired bit-tech.net. Both digital publications became market leaders in their sectors.
He sold TrustedReviews.com in October 2007 to Time Warner (then the world’s largest media organisation), and bit-tech.net in October 2008 to Dennis Publishing.
Since then, Hugh has enjoyed considerable success with numerous start-ups and scale-ups as both an investor and advisor.
He also works with more established companies, using his wealth of experience to offer an independent voice on strategy, process, performance, risk, and people.
His investment and advisory roles include: LADbible, Cloudshift, JustPark, Parkopedia, MyFirst Insurance, MyVoucherCodes, Andersen EV, Time Out and Holiday Extras.
He has recently invested in The Venture Room, an entrepreneurial media platform and community known for its interviews of high-net-worth individuals who share wealth-building insights and business advice.
Importantly, Hugh contributes to the growth and success of others through voluntary roles in business, community, and education - helping to inspire, motivate, and support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
