Lauren O'Carroll
Postively Parenting
Lauren is a neurodivergent family specialist and the founder of Positively Parenting. She came to the work after more than twenty years in senior leadership across the NHS and advocacy services: running complex services, improving quality, and supporting vulnerable families. That operational background shows in COMPASS: built to be delivered consistently by other people, not only by its authors.
She is an accredited peaceful parent coach, trained with Dr Laura Markham, with specialist training in ADHD, autism, learning disability and advocacy. Her practice covers neurodivergent families, ADHD in parents, pathological demand avoidance and emotional regulation: reducing overwhelm and rebuilding the parent-child relationship when family life has become hard.
Her approach is grounded in neuroscience, attachment and nervous system regulation, and starts from why a behaviour is happening rather than how to manage it. She works with the whole family system rather than the child alone, and builds strategies around the strengths, pressures and daily realities that family actually has.
Lauren is a mum with ADHD raising neurodivergent children, and brings that alongside the professional expertise. She has supported hundreds of families through coaching and programmes, delivered training to more than a thousand parents, and is a frequent voice in the national conversation on ADHD and parenting. Her book, You're Not a Shit Parent, You Have ADHD, is forthcoming.
