Simmy Dhillon
Simmer Eats
When I was 8 years old - my Dad, who worked night shifts in a car factory for 25 years, told me:
“Work hard so you don’t end up with a sh*t job like me”
At 11, I was tutoring maths for cash.
At 14, I was selling sweets on the playground.
At 17, I worked 3 part-time jobs alongside my A levels.
At 18, I became my Dad’s carer.
At 19, I started a business selling meals at uni called “Rice n Spice”.
Today, that business is Simmer.
🏆 The fastest-growing food business in Europe (Financial Times)
🏆 The #5th fastest-growing business in the UK (The Sunday Times 100)
I started with £10 of ingredients in my uni kitchen.
And bootstrapped to over £50M in revenue.
Along the way I’ve…
- Grown the business to £1M+ revenue as a side hustle
- Then quit what I thought was my ‘dream job’ in finance
- Then quit another ‘dream job’ at Google to go all in
- Retired my Mum from her supermarket job
- Retired my Dad from his factory job
- Paid off the family mortgage
- Delivered +10 million meals
But Simmer isn't just a business.
It’s a British working-class success story.
Proof that no matter where you come from, you can dream beyond your circumstances.
Now we're building the team from our new London Simmer HQ to become a generational brand.
And I'm using this platform to show the next generation - of kids like me - that entrepreneurship isn't reserved for the privileged few.
If I can do it, you can too 🤝🏽
