Sophie Edmonds is Director of Strategic Capital at Raintree Family Office, where she is building the capital infrastructure for a new model of landscape restoration in India's Western Ghats. Raintree's approach treats philanthropic capital not as charity but as catalytic investment — funding the proof of concept that attracts institutional finance, generates natural capital credits and creates lasting economic resilience for farming communities. It is an emerging blueprint for how private giving can trigger systems change at scale. The Western Ghats are a biodiversity hotspot and provide water for millions.

Prior to Raintree, Sophie's work has included CEO of the Water Smart Foundation, a UK-registered charity whose aim is to safeguard the future of water with initiatives rethinking production and supply and reducing plastic pollution; Chief Growth for carbon removal and waste-to-aggregate start-up C-Zero; advising and investing in various early-stage start-ups; and serving as UN Women UK delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women.
