Susan Charlesworth

Susan Charlesworth spent years training astronauts to handle the moments that matter most. As a Human Factors psychologist at the European Space Agency's Astronaut Centre, she trained astronauts including Tim Peake, before moving to the UK Space Agency to run Tim Peake's Principia education programme. She now runs Charlesworth Human Performance, bringing the same training used to prepare astronauts for the most extreme environment imaginable to business leaders navigating high-stakes decisions of their own. A a TEDx Brighton speaker, Susan is known for turning space stories, some triumphant, some terrifying, into practical experiences for the rooms she works with. At Ideas Fest, she'll be getting the audience out of their seats to try the actual techniques astronauts use to think clearly, decide fast, and stay steady under pressure.
